Hollywood, Bollywood...All Movie Weekend
Despite Thunderbird's small size, during the trimester things are quite active. However, things change drastically over Thanksgiving break - desolate would be a good way to describe it. Nevertheless, I've kept myself busy to keep my mind off a certain someone. Today I spent a good 6 hours on a shopping expedition to the Fashion Square mall in Scottsdale.
Up first - a quick stop at Marshall's, which features their "Shoe Megashop." They didn't have anything that I liked, in my size anyway. But DK nearly snagged some black Calvin Klein loafers for only 30 bucks! The only problem? They only had one shoe! Although he left his name and phone number with Esteban, the sales rep, I'm positive he won't be receiving a call back. I perused the women's section to see what I could find in size 6.5, and found some Lacoste's, but wasn't convinced that she would like them...
Afterwards, it was off to downtown Scottsdale. People were out and about on Black Friday. I heard some of the Taiwanese were up shopping at 4 am! I really had to hold myself back from buying too much since I'll be in NYC next month. This was quite challenging because my wardrobe is hurting. I also checked the Gap to see what styles they had in size 0, but none of the finishes caught my eye. Maybe next time.
In the evening , I jumped at the chance to see an Indian Bollywood movie - Dhoom 2! To quote my friend Richard from Barbados - this movie had "lots of action!!!" But more importantly, what I loved about the movie was that it incorporated quite a few elements that I find appealing - love, romance, song and dance. The women were extremely beautiful too.

After Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to remenisce about the past couple of weeks. I rented the 2003 remake of "The Italian Job" and I'm glad I did. It reaffirmed several things for me: 1) I'm definitely going to Italy to learn Italian and 2) to always go after what you want. The scenes from Venice were fascinating. Besides seeing the Mini Coopers (both old and new - I loved the white one with sports striping), my favorite part about the movie was the advice the old man provided. In fact, I could relate a lot to the main character, Charlie Croker. He was a quiet leader, a smooth dresser and got the girl of his dreams. At the end of the film, he took his girlfriend's (Stella's, father's advice. In Charlie's words: "...and me? I took John Bridge's advice - I found somebody I want to spend the rest of my life with and I'm going to hold on to her forever." I definitely want to see the original because nothing ever replaces a classic.

Tomorrow should be a charm since it will be the third movie of the weekend. I'm looking forward to the GQ elements that only 007 can bring to the table. I've heard mixed reviews, but I'm certain fashion is one thing this film will not mess up.
